Stormwater pollutants have the potential to cause adverse effects to aquatic life and ecosystems and potentially affect human health as well. Reducing pollutant loading to reduce the risk of adverse effects is the reason why stormwater is regulated under the NPDES program. This seminar will introduce basic concepts of toxicology that underlie our understanding of how stormwater pollutants cause adverse effects and will focus on the harm potentially caused by substances typically found in stormwater discharges. The presentation will also include information about how the toxicology of stormwater pollutants translates into state water quality criteria and the benchmarks for stormwater monitoring results.
These discussion meetings are free to current Certified Stormwater Inspectors (CSI)™ while non-current CSI graduates, and the general public, can join sessions for a $25 registration fee..
